HOME

Arts are for every body.
Welcome to a space where Maia Scott sources curiosity, creativity and compassion to spark evolution of access and inclusion in the arts from the websites we search to the sites we visit, the programs we attend and the creative processes we intend.

I am an interdisciplinary artist, educator and activist living in the San Francisco Bay Area working with agencies, higher education, museums, performance venues and web developers as a consultant demystifying access and inclusion, inciting joy in designing for diverse audiences and sharing lived experience to build bridges Home. In work and life, I approach challenges and triumphs with curiosity, creativity and compassion.
Maia’s on the Move
PROJECTS IN PROGRESS & HERSTORY OF HAPPENINGS:
- Saturday, January 31 – Meditative Arts Playshop at the Sonoma Community Center — A chance to immerse in a variety of creative prompts to enhance your arts and meditative practices.
- Coming in October 2026 – ComUnity Ignition – We, a committee of creatives from the Disability Community, are working with NuMU of Los Gatos to build a disability centered art exhibit exploring the power of collaboration, community and interdependence.
2025 HIGHLIGHTS
- Saturday, September 10 – California Academy of Science new Nature Lab accessible activities ideation reveal and celebration: We invited our friends and family to enjoy good food and share the creations we developed in partnership with the museum.
- Saturday, July 26 — ADA 35th Anniversary Celebration at the de Young: I offered mini zine making at the event and was on the organizing committee. The fun, belonging and creative connection factors proved abundant and fulfilling. Hopefully, we’ll do it again.
- Saturday, July 19, 10-3 — Meditative Arts Playshop at the Sonoma Community Center Turned out to be a smallish group, though the size allowed for gentler energies and personalization. Participants went away relaxed and happy and I get to do it again.
- Saturday, July 12, 2-4 — Disability Community Flag Project at the BTBC SF Main Library – Our collective community creation is still up in the TBBC for touching and viewing.
- Sunday, May 18, 11-12 — “Scrappy Access Adaptations” SCRAP SF Free Teacher Workshop – We sent teachers away with lots of fun tools and ideas for accessibility and Universal Design for Learning. I had the chance to facilitate this process again for SFUSD paras and teachers in partnership with the SF Museum of Modern Art.
- Thursday, July 17, 6:30-8:30 — Tactile Labyrinth making workshop with Naiomi Rosenberg at 836M, manifested a pretty full house and a fun collaboration with a fabulous creative and ally.
- May 9-11 — Eye Am Peace Labyrinth at the New Living Expo in San Rafael – kind of disappointing turnout because we were in the back forty and attendees barely knew the labyrinth was there. One instructor did use it for his presentation, though.
- Saturday, May 3, 8pm — “Bigger on the Inside” performance workshopped in the RAW showcase, Safehouse for the Arts, San Francisco.
- Saturday, April 5, 11:00am – Peaceful Palms for the “One Peace Labyrinth” at the Museum of Craft and Design’s Make Art Family Day.
- Saturday, April 5, 6:00pm – Night of Ideas workshops at the San Francisco Main Library, including a peace hand making workshop and a zine building session exploring ways of seeing our community.
- Mid-April – “One Peace Labyrinth” leaves San Francisco as part of Museum of Craft and Design’s “Rug Life” to visit other museums.
- Friday, April 24 and online — Interview on Pushing Limits, “Making Museums Accessible for All”.
- Friday, May 3, 8:00pm – RAW Performance Showcase at Safehouse Performing Arts, featuring a new text and movement piece entitled “Bigger on the Inside”.
